Overall, progress is continuing but at a more gradual rate. It’s common for a person to plateau during the duration of recovery and considering the severity of the injuries. Healing takes a lot of energy and fatigue is a major problem. Terry will continue using the walker until his balance is completely stable. There have been medication adjustments and this appears to be stable at this time.Another concern has been a swallowing disorder and although there has been some slight progress, he still remains at risk for aspirating pneumonia.Terry also had a follow-up brain MRI this month and the results were positive showing no “new” activity, revealing only some slight scar tissue. This was good news. There are some cognitive limitations as well as physical, so there is still a lot of healing ahead of him.For now, he’ll continue his daily regimen ofPT, OT, SP, ED and work hard at getting better.
To respond to the question regarding the Memorial Day, Springfield Mile weekend, Terry unfortunately will not be able to attend. This is disappointing and he would like to be there, but it’s just not possible with the health issues facing him at this time.
Thanks to everyone again for checking in on him, signing his guest book and sending cards. One thing he looks forward to daily is checking and reading his mail.
