March is almost over and spring is underway in Texas.Let’s hear it for warm weather. There was a slight downside to the beginning of spring this year and that was Terry had to miss the season kick off at the Daytona short tracks. The first in 30+ years. He was disappointed, but did enjoy watching it on television. Not quite the same as being there!
Terry’s progress continues to improve. He’s ten months into his recovery and continues to spend six hours a day, five days a week in therapy. It’s hard work but it’s paying off.He no longer uses a wheel chair. His balance has improved tremendously and can walk on his own, but due to restricted muscular tone throughout his body, which limits his flexibility, he’s required to use a walker and safety is a major factor.Although still on a restricted diet due to a swallowing deficit, he’s regained his pre-accident weight. This also will heal in time.As far as cognition recovery, his long-term memory is fully intact and short term is improving daily. Terry’s injury was severe and there are still hurdles he has to overcome. It’s going to take time. He’s beginning to feel a little like himself again but realizes there’s a lot of healing still ahead. He has good days and some not as well, but his spirits are high and determination is strong. He has a goal… he wants to get well and to achieve this he must continue this daily regimen and work extremely hard. He’s committed to do so.
He looks forward to the day he can come to a race and see everyone, shake your hand and thank you in person for the get-well wishes, prayers and support. He’s still so overwhelmed by it all.Terry knows how fortunate he is today and feels blessed to have such special friends in his life.
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers.
