My name is Rhonda Pollard, and I am Terry Poovey's niece. I remember the track that Terry made in my grandmothers back yard. They always had a trampoline in that yard and Terry and my Aunt would always bounce me around. It was fun, I was only three years old and I don't think I will ever forget it. I had the privlage of getting to spend some time with Terry at Daytona this year and it meant alot to me because I usually only see him at holidays and funerals. I was amazed at the love that
everyone showed him here in Daytona and just everything that everyone has done since his accident. The family thanks everyone for everything.
The best race I ever saw, bar none, was a Junior main at the Astrodome sometime in the middle '70's, I can't remember the exact year. It was the first time I'd been to the 'Dome and, although I'd seen Teddy race at Ross Downs, it was the first time I saw Terry race. After a couple of laps, it was all Terry and Larry Beale, Jr. racing for the lead and passing each other twice a lap. Larry would get by Terry in 1 and 2 and lead down the back stretch then Terry would get by Larry in 3 and 4 and lead at the Start/Finish line. I don't think they were ever more than a bike length apart and most of the time side by side. The last lap was the same as the rest and Terry just got by Larry at the finish. It was one of those races that nobody ought to lose - just fantastic. My whole family was immediately fans of both of them. I don't know what happened to Larry Beale Jr. - I never saw him race again. But I've followed Terry's career ever since and seen him race at the 'Dome, Ross Downs, Devil's Bowl, and whatever I could catch on TV. The races weren't always as good as that night at the 'Dome but Terry was always as exciting and always rode just as hard. He's the kind of rider and the kind of person that makes us proud to be fans. Get well Terry! Cotton Morgan - Bronte, Texas
My name Is David Tyo I'm from Tawas Michigan i had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Terry Poovey last year at the amateur nationals in Springfield. Having been a fan of his for so many years i was just awstruck when he asked me at the 1/2 mile if i
used to be a pro and if i was from Canada when i told him i was from Michigan he got a big old smile and said that explains it right there. He even offered to help me out right there on the spot without knowing me at all i was so very impressed by his sincerness and genuine love for the riders in this sport that i ended up bumming him some cigarettes at the
short track because he had run out. i don't think i could get to the pack fast enough when i saw him comming!!! Thank you Mr Poovey you have a fan here that Has a plate and screws holding his head on and still continues to race because what else can you do?
